Renewal of the En avant Math! Grant
On June 3, representatives from the CRM, CIRANO, and the Quebec Ministry of Finance gathered to announce the renewal of the En avant math! grant. The third phase of this program, launched in 2019, will run for three years and is funded with $1.5 million.
The event also provided an opportunity to discuss the development of mathematical skills in Quebec, review activities carried out since 2022, and discuss the project’s next steps through 2029.
The CRM presented a retrospective of activities promoting mathematics aimed at a variety of audiences, ranging from early childhood to practicing professionals, and some partners gave a more in-depth presentation of their projects. Several CIRANO members presented the findings of reports to be released this summer on the contribution of mathematical skills to Quebec’s economy and income mobility, as well as on employers’ perceptions of workers’ mathematical skills. The development of mathematical skills from early childhood through high school graduation was also addressed.
