France-Québec research stay program
The France-Quebec Collaboration Program aims to strengthen bilateral scientific collaborations and exchanges between researchers in Quebec—who are members of the CRM—and their counterparts in France, as well as their students. It also helps reinforce the Francophone component of the CRM’s activities, which is a central element of its mission.
The program enables the CRM to offer its scientific members the opportunity to conduct research stays at French institutions. These activities are part of a residency program for team-based research in partnership with the International Center for Mathematical Meetings (CIRM) in Marseille.
At the same time, the program supports visits by researchers from France to the CRM, who actively contribute to the scientific life of the center’s 13 interuniversity laboratories, deliver lectures, and participate in the training of young mathematicians.
Program Benefits
To foster scientific collaboration between CRM researchers and their colleagues in France, three areas of focus will be prioritized:
CRM-CIRM Residency Program for Team-Based Research
This program supports collaborative research projects carried out by teams composed of one or two CRM members and one or two researchers from France. Each team will be offered a stay at CIRM and a stay at CRM, each lasting one to two weeks.
Research Stays for CRM Members in France
The CRM will fund 4 to 5 research stays per year for its members or their students at French institutions. The average duration of these stays will be 2 weeks, and priority will be given to researchers who are initiating new collaborations. Funding may include travel expenses, lodging, and living expenses in the form of a per diem.
Research Stays by Researchers from France at the CRM
The CRM will fund 2 research stays annually for researchers from France or their students at the CRM. The average duration of these stays will be 2 weeks, and priority will be given to exploratory stays with a view to a long-term assignment at the IRL CRM-CNRS by the CNRS, as well as to the continuation of collaborations following scientific activities at the CRM. Funding may include travel expenses, lodging, and living expenses in the form of a per diem.
