Session for a “Mathematics for AI” Conference
Through its international strategy, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) has established a Federation of International Research Laboratories (IRLs) in Mathematics across the America (MathAm) with laboratories in Chile, Uruguay, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico.
The Federation is organizing its first MathAm Conference dedicated to Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence (Math4AI), to be held at the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) in Santiago, Chile from April 12 to 16, 2027.
The Math4AI Conference aims to bring together world-leading experts in the mathematical foundations of Artificial Intelligence, along with researchers from across the region and from a broad range of mathematical disciplines. It will address some of the main questions and recent developments in mathematics for Artificial Intelligence, fostering new scientific networks and strengthening mathematical capacity throughout the Americas to address the scientific challenges posed by AI technologies and their profound impact on science, industry, and society.
The Organizing Committee would like to invite members of the IRLs (including members of the CRM) to submit proposals for thematic sessions. The instructions are detailed below.
The deadline for the submissions is October the 30th.
Session proposals
Each proposal must provide:
– A Session Title
– The name and contact information of a Session organizer from the corresponding IRL. Organizers do not need to be speakers.
Sessions proposals must be sent by email to Maia FRASER.
Participants
– A session could consist in 3-4 talks of around 30 min.
– The proposal must include at least 2 names of possible speakers who would be likely to participate if invited.
– Proposed speakers should in principle have their own funding.
– Proposed participants need not to be all members of IRLs.
Evaluation
These proposals will be analyzed by members of the Organizing Committee, who
– Will select the sessions
– Possibly suggest merges,
taking into consideration the thematic pertinence and diversity, proximities, balance, and logistic or budgetary constraints.
Acceptance
The Organizing Committee will contact the Session organizer and communicate their decision or recommendations by mid-November. The Session Organizer will contact the speakers and confirm their participation (and find alternatives if needed) by the end of december.
Samuel-De Champlain Program 2027-2028
The Program aims to contribute to the excellence of Franco-Quebec university and scientific cooperation, its development, and dissemination. Particular attention will be given to projects initiating new collaborations.
The Program supports mobility between France and Quebec, in order to:
- Foster the emergence of inter-university partnerships between France and Quebec;
- Support the initiation of new collaborations between teams in France and Quebec;
- Promote the integration of French and Quebec universities into international research and training networks.

Call for Applications
Each year, the CNRS offers around twenty funding opportunities for researchers based outside France, allowing them to spend 2 or 3 months in a mathematics laboratory in France.<br
The goal is to develop collaborative research with a colleague from the host laboratory.
Mathematicians affiliated with the CRM who are interested may contact the director of the IRL CRM-CNRS: emmanuel.royer@cnrs.fr

Application deadline: September 26, 2026.
Long-term welcome for mathematicians from France
The existence of the Franco-Québécois international research laboratory IRL CRM-CNRS enables the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) to assign mathematicians based in France to Quebec (or Ottawa) for a typical duration of six months to one year, through a programme known as “delegation/assignment abroad”.
The process is lengthy and selective: the next call for applications will take place in autumn 2026 for stays between September 2027 and August 2028.
Do not hesitate to encourage your colleagues in France to apply and to inform them that the director of the IRL CRM-CNRS is available to discuss their project: emmanuel.royer@cnrs.fr.
Research in pair at the Institut Henri Poincaré
The research in pair program at the Institut Henri Poincaré (IHP), located in the heart of Paris, has been relaunched.
It allows small groups to work on-site at the IHP.
The next deadline is approaching, but the application seems relatively straightforward to prepare. Moreover, the program is recurring, with deadlines on May 15 and October 15 each year.
