Henri Darmon named 2024 Guggenheim Fellow
The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation announced their 2024 fellows, which includes one CRM member, Professor Henri Darmon (McGill University).
Professor Darmon is among 188 scholars to receive fellowships, from a pool of almost 3,000 applicants — “a distinguished and diverse group of culture-creators working across 52 disciplines,” according to the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation press statement.
Guggenheim Fellowships are grants that have been awarded annually since 1925 by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, endowed by the late Simon and Olga Hirsh Guggenheim. This annual fellowship is one of the most prestigious awards given to scholars, scientists and artists who are citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada.
Professor Rustum Choksi, Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McGill University, said:
“A huge Congratulations to Henri for becoming a 2024 Guggenheim Fellow. In fact, he is the only pure mathematician on the list.”
