Registration open for the IDMS summer school
An annual summer school named “Increasing Diversity in Mathematical & Related Sciences” has been established through an agreement between the Canadian mathematical sciences research institutes: the Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Sciences (AARMS), the Banff International Research Station (BIRS), the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM), the Fields Institute for Research in the Mathematical Sciences, and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS).
Its aim is to enhance diversity in mathematics and related sciences, specifically targeting underrepresented groups. The program seeks to prepare and motivate undergraduate students for advanced degrees by offering instruction in foundational subjects relevant to graduate studies, mentorship, and the establishment of a supportive community.
The summer school will rotate through various locations in Canada and be governed by a steering committee comprised of representatives from each participating institution.
The agreement is initially set for two years, with the possibility of extension.
