Dr. Carlo Pagano Receives the 2026 Coxeter–James Prize

Congratulations to Dr. Carlo Pagano, professor at Concordia University and member of the CRM, who has been awarded the 2026 Coxeter–James Prize by the Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) for his exceptional contributions to number theory. Renowned for his innovative work in arithmetic statistics, he has distinguished himself through two major breakthroughs achieved in collaboration with Dr. Peter Koymans: resolving Stevenhagen’s conjecture on the negative Pell equation and providing a complete solution to Hilbert’s tenth problem over arbitrary finitely generated infinite rings.

His research, marked by technical depth and originality, has reshaped important areas of contemporary number theory. A recipient of the 2025 André‑Aisenstadt Prize of the CRM, he continues to build an impressive international profile through influential publications and numerous invited lectures worldwide.
