Increasing Diversity in Mathematical & Related Sciences

Deadline: December 15, 2025
May 17–22, 2026 — UBC Okanagan

The Canadian Mathematical Society’s Women in Math Committee will be organizing the 2026 Increasing Diversity in Mathematical & Related Sciences (IDMS) Summer School. This five-day program will bring together a diverse group of undergraduate students who identify as women or other underrepresented gender identities and who are studying mathematics at a Canadian university.

This initiative is made possible with the financial support of the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM), the AARMS, the Fields, the PIMS, the BIRS, the TIMC, and the UBCO.

Overview

This will be an inspiring week of learning new mathematics from influential women and gender-diverse mathematicians while collaborating with peers from across the country. Participants will connect professionally and socially, build strong academic networks, and engage with the instructors. The program includes a challenging academic component, professional development sessions, and panel discussions focused on navigating challenges faced by women and other underrepresented gender identities in the mathematical sciences.
