NSERC-funded institutes’ meeting
On May 3 and 4, the CRM welcomed the directors of the institutes funded by NSERC’s Discovery Institutes Support (DIS) program.
In addition to the President of NSERC, representatives from PIMS, CANSSI, Fields and AARMS were present, and those from BIRS and CITA joined them by videoconference.
A number of themes were addressed during the two-day exchange, including collaboration between institutes, the planning of pan-Canadian thematic programs, and the importance of raising awareness in Ottawa of the impact of mathematics and statistics research and training programs, as well as of development opportunities.
Many participants emphasized the exceptional level of collaboration and constructive dialogue between the institutes and expressed their wish to make this an annual tradition.
