Henri Darmon Receives the 2026 Jeffery‑Williams Prize
Congratulations to Henri Darmon, Distinguished James McGill Professor at McGill University and a regular member of the CRM, who has been awarded the 2026 Jeffery‑Williams Prize by the Canadian Mathematical Society for his important and sustained contributions to number theory and arithmetic geometry.
An internationally recognized leader in modern number theory, his work has profoundly shaped the study of elliptic curves, L‑functions, and automorphic forms. He is particularly known for introducing Stark‑Heegner points and for developing real quadratic analogues of singular moduli, extending ideas from complex multiplication to new and influential settings.
The author of more than 90 highly cited research papers, Henri Darmon has left a lasting imprint on mathematical research in Canada and worldwide. A recipient of numerous prestigious honours, including the AMS Cole Prize and the CRM‑Fields‑PIMS Prize, he is also widely admired for his mentorship and service to the mathematical community.
