Christiane Rousseau appointed Officer of the Order of Canada
The CRM is pleased to announce that Christiane Rousseau, Professor Emeritus at the DMS, has been appointed Officer of the Order of Canada on December 18, 2024, for her contributions to mathematics and to mathematical outreach.
She was the driving force behind the 2013 Mathematics for Planet Earth, which highlighted the role of mathematics in addressing global challenges. She was also behind UNESCO’s proclamation of March 14 as International Day of Mathematics, which she is instrumental in ensuring to have celebrated in every school across the planet.
