Joint CRM-ISM Initiative to Support Researchers at Risk

The Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) and the Institut des Sciences Mathématiques (ISM) have established a support program for mathematicians, statisticians, and related researchers experiencing hardship due to conflict, oppression, or persecution.

Program Goals

  • To provide a temporary refuge for researchers in mathematics and statistics
  • To enable the continuation of their advanced research and training
  • To offer a secure and supportive research environment

Eligible Candidates

  • Researchers at all career stages, from graduate students to senior scientists

Available Forms of Financial Support

  • Scholarships at ISM partner institutions
  • Travel grants to support participation in CRM activities
  • Funding for research stays and collaborations at the CRM

Application Requirements

To be considered for support, applicants must submit the following documents:

  • A cover letter describing the specific circumstances motivating the request
  • A project proposal (2–3 pages), including:
    • Scientific objectives
    • Potential collaborators at the CRM
    • The amount of financial support requested
    • Other sources of funding (if applicable)
  • A complete curriculum vitae, including an up-to-date list of publications
  • A letter of support from a regular member of the CRM
