Universal statistics in number theory code of conduct

We want the environment at our activities to be welcoming, inclusive, and respectful for everyone. Please treat all participants with courtesy and avoid any exclusionary behaviour or language based on race/ethnicity, gender (binary, assigned, or otherwise), disability, physical or mental health, sexual orientation, religion or belief, politics and nationality, parental, pregnancy or relationship status, level of education, or age. This includes jokes — even if made “ironically.”

Harassment is not acceptable. This includes unconsented physical contact (even unusually close proximity) or sexual attention, even if not intended to cause harm. Remember: dressing or acting in a certain way is not consent.

We value the wide range of political and philosophical perspectives you bring. In an academic setting, differences of opinion can be a source of richness when approached with genuine curiosity, tolerance, and intellectual humility. While mathematics is the main focus of our time together, respectful conversations on other topics, including the latest politics — even those that are contentious — are welcome if they are conducted in a way that ensures no one feels excluded, intimidated, or belittled for their views.

Aggression, elitism, or belittling behaviour have no place at our activities

Some social events may take place in venues serving alcohol, but there is no expectation or pressure to drink. Please don’t question anyone’s choice of beverage.

If you take photographs, videos, or other recordings, get consent from everyone featured before capturing them and again before sharing them.

Participants are asked to respect these guidelines. Organizers reserve the right to ask people who repeatedly do not follow these collegiality guidelines to leave the meeting.
