The 2024-2025 postdoctoral fellowship competition is now closed
The Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) and the Institut des sciences mathématiques are pleased to announce the creation of postdoctoral positions for young mathematics researchers for the academic year 2025-2026.
CRM-ISM Postdoctoral Fellowships
The CRM-ISM Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded to promising researchers who have recently obtained or expect to obtain a PhD in the mathematical sciences. The fellowship offers an annual stipend of at least CAD$60,000 for one year, with possibility of renewal for a second year. Furthermore, an annual amount of CAD$1,000 in research funds will be made available. This is a research fellowship allowing the recipient to devote most of his or her time to research under the supervision of a professor from one of the CRM and ISM member universities. If fellows wish to teach, they may request to be offered teaching assignments for which they will receive an additional salary.
The CRM is proud to subscribe to the Université de Montréal’s policy on cultural diversity and is committed to taking into account diversity and systemic and individual barriers to access (e.g., related to ethnicity, gender, disability) when selecting postdoctoral fellows.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a CRM-ISM postdoctoral fellowship, researchers must have obtained a PhD after May 1, 2022. In accordance with the regulations of the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur (MES) of the Province of Quebec, persons with the status of post-doctoral fellows must have been awarded a PhD or equivalent degree within the last 5 years. The appointment as a CRM-ISM postdoctoral fellow may not exceed the postdoctoral status eligibility end date.
Please note that while it is not an eligibility requirement, preference will be given to candidates who are not currently registered at one of the CRM and ISM member universities.
Applications are welcome in all fields of research in which the CRM and the ISM are actively involved, namely:
- Actuarial and Financial Mathematics
- Algebra and Number Theory
- Analysis
- Applied and Computational Mathematics
- Applied Mathematics in Bioscience and Medicine
- Artificial Intelligence
- Combinatorics and Algebra
- Geometry and Topology
- Mathematical Logic
- Mathematical Methods in Medical Imaging
- Mathematical Physics
- Non-linear Dynamics
- Probability
- Statistics
The CRM is a national research center in mathematical sciences. It gathers thirteen research laboratories and organizes each year a wide range of scientific activities with international participation.
The Institut des sciences mathématiques is a consortium of eight Québec universities for training and collaboration in the mathematical sciences:
- Concordia University
- Université Laval
- McGill University
- Université de Montréal
- Université du Québec à Montréal
- Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières
- Université de Sherbrooke
- Bishop’s University
