EDGE Summer Program

The EDGE Summer Program is a four-week residential session designed to prepare a cohort of women and gender nonconforming individuals to thrive in their PhD programs in the mathematical sciences. The 2026 EDGE Summer Program will be held from May 31 to June 27 at the University of Waterloo in Canada.

Program activities include:

  • Four core workshops in algebra, analysis, measure theory, and machine learning, as well as mini-courses in supporting topics.
  • Daily collaborative problem-solving sessions with advanced graduate student mentors.
  • Regular office hours and highly personalized feedback from facilitators.
  • Weekly colloquium on a variety of research topics.
  • Special discussions on equity and identity in mathematics, teaching practices, and other professional development skills.

The EDGE Foundation and the University of Waterloo will cover all travel, room, and board expenses related to the Summer Program. Program participants will also receive a modest stipend.

Applicants to the program should be women or gender-nonconforming individuals who:

  1. are applying to PhD programs in the mathematical sciences in the United States or Canada with the intention of beginning in Fall 2026,
  2. have just completed their first year in a PhD program in the mathematical sciences in the United States or Canada, or
  3. are applying to Master’s programs in the mathematical sciences in Canada to begin in Fall 2026, with the intention of continuing on to a PhD program afterward.

IMU-CWM Funding Call

The Committee for Women in Mathematics of the International Mathematical Union (CWM) invites proposals for funding for activities or initiatives to support women in mathematics taking place from February 2024 to February 2025. The CWM funding grant does not exceed €3000.

The deadline for applying via the IMU dedicated webform is January 5, 2024.
