Before arriving in Canada<\/h6>\n<h4 data-start=\"580\" data-end=\"608\">Immigration procedures<\/h4>\n<ul data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"985\">\n<li data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"664\">A valid passport is required to enter Canada.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"664\">Depending on your nationality, you may need a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/services\/visit-canada\/eta.html\">eTA<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"664\">It is recommended to contact the nearest Canadian embassy or consulate to confirm the current requirements and to schedule an appointment for your application submission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 data-start=\"987\" data-end=\"1026\">Work permit (if applicable)<\/h4>\n<ul data-start=\"1027\" data-end=\"1522\">\n<li data-start=\"1027\" data-end=\"1118\">A work permit is mandatory for stays longer than 120 days;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1027\" data-end=\"1118\">You must pay the processing fees required by the Government of Canada;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1027\" data-end=\"1118\">The work permit must cover the exact duration of your stay and list all affiliated institutions (e.g., Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al and McGill University);<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1027\" data-end=\"1118\">If the dates or conditions of your stay change, a new official letter must be issued by the CRM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 data-start=\"1524\" data-end=\"1560\">Typical supporting documents<\/h4>\n<ul data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1818\">\n<li data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1659\">Certified copy of your degree (or official letter confirming thesis defense);<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1659\">Updated curriculum vitae (CV);<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1659\">Copy of your passport;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1659\">Signed job offer or invitation letter;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1659\">Letter from your home institution (if applicable).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><h6><strong>2. Upon arrival at the CRM<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>Once you arrive in Montr\u00e9al, please contact your program coordinator to arrange:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The handover of your keys;<\/li>\n<li>A tour of the facilities;<\/li>\n<li>Verification of your institutional access (email, UdeM credentials, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><h6><strong>3. Steps to complete after settling in<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramq.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/citizens\/health-insurance\/registration-information\">Quebec Health Insurance Card (RAMQ)<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Registration with the RAMQ is mandatory for all stays exceeding three months.<\/li>\n<li>Submit your application to the R\u00e9gie de l\u2019assurance maladie du Qu\u00e9bec (RAMQ).<\/li>\n<li>There may be a waiting period of up to three months before your coverage takes effect at the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al.<\/li>\n<li>Some nationalities benefit from bilateral agreements allowing immediate coverage\u2014please check with your consulate.<\/li>\n<li>In the meantime, temporary private insurance is strongly recommended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/employment-social-development\/services\/sin\/apply.html\">Social Insurance Number (SIN)<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Social Insurance Number is required for any paid activity in Canada.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-6\"><h6><strong>4.<\/strong> <strong>Information Based on Visitor Status<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><strong>Postdoctoral Fellows<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Postdoctoral fellows employed by the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al will receive institutional credentials before their arrival:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Permanent Code<\/em>: a unique identifier assigned by the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al;<\/li>\n<li><em>UNIP<\/em>: a temporary personal identifier granting access to institutional email and the UdeM portal;<\/li>\n<li><em>UdeM Portal<\/em>: a platform providing access to online services (student records, emails, library resources, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Visiting Researchers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Visiting researchers receive an official invitation letter from the CRM specifying the dates, duration, and conditions of their stay.
