Partnerships
Partnerships with Institutes
Since the early 1990s, other research institutes have joined the CRM on the Canadian scene: the Fields Institute in Toronto, the Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) in Western Canada, the Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Sciences (AARMS) in Atlantic Canada, and the Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute (CANSSI). The CRM regularly collaborates with these institutes in the organization of thematic programs, workshops and schools.
The CRM, the Fields Institute and PIMS have worked closely on a variety of initiatives, the most important of which has been the Mathematics of Information Technology and Complex Systems (MITACS). Other initiatives involved these institutes, such as the CRM-Fields-PIMS prize awarded in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in the mathematical sciences in Canada. The administrative responsibility for this prize alternates each year between the three institutes.
The institute directors meet regularly to insure the best coordination of their overall activities and intervene together with the public and granting agencies (NSERC in particular) to promote education and advanced research in mathematical sciences.
The CNRS is one of the main partners of the CRM via its status as a CNRS IRL.
